Missy Henriksen joined the National
Pest Management Association (NPMA) in 2009 with more than 20 years
experience in managing trade associations. In her role as the
Vice President of Public Affairs for the Association, Henriksen
serves as a spokesperson and an industry expert on professional
pest management, household pest problems and promotes the
pest management industry's commitment to the protection of public
health, food and property. In addition, Henriksen serves as the
Executive Director for the Professional Pest Management Alliance
(PPMA), the industry's voice for educating consumers about the
vital role pest professionals play in protecting public health and
safety.
Henriksen's many media appearances include NBC's "Today" show,
CBS's "The Early Show," MSNBC, "Rachael Ray Show," "The Dr. Oz
Show," CNBC's "Street Signs" and she has been quoted in PEOPLE
magazine, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal and numerous other
national and local newspapers and magazines.
Prior to joining NPMA, Henriksen served as the Executive
Director for the American Composites Manufacturers Association
(ACMA), a post she held for 12 years. Her accomplishments with the
non-profit included significant organizational growth, a 300
percent increase in membership and budget, and overall
organizational consolidation within the industry that enabled the
membership to speak with one voice. Her responsibilities ran
the gambit from market development and fundraising to enhancing
membership value.
In addition to other leadership positions with industry trade
groups, Henriksen also spent time working in non-profit school
administration in fundraising and marketing, and held a brief
position on Capitol Hill, working for Congressman Bill
Chappell.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Henriksen is an ardent
community volunteer having held various leadership positions with
her local alumni association, the Junior League of Northern
Virginia, Girl Scouts, the American Society of Association
Executives and others.
Henriksen graduated from the University of Virginia, earning her
bachelor's degree in communications with a minor in government
affairs.
