Headaches, fever, congestion, sneezing, wheezing, rash and muscle aches can stem from more than just the common cold, flu or allergic reaction. Believe it or not, these symptoms can also be a sign of a potentially serious infectious disease or allergic reaction transmitted or triggered by common insects and parasites in the areas we live, work and play.

Mosquitoes can transmit West Nile virus and Zika virus. Ticks are capable of germs through their bites that cause Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever. Cockroach allergens can trigger asthma attacks, especially in children. And, bed bug bites often result in excessive scratching that can lead to secondary infections like MRSA.
