NPMA Celebrates Back to School with New Resources on PestWorldForKids.org

Children, parents and teachers will bug out over the website’s new features

FAIRFAX, Va. (August 9, 2018) – Getting back into the swing of a new school year can be challenging, but the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) is here to help ease the transition and fuel the desire to learn with new lesson plans and activities on its children’s website, PestWorldForKids.org. Designed for students in grades K through 8, the interactive and educational website now offers additional learning materials for children ages three through five—perfect for daycare, preschool and Pre-K programs.

“We hear time and again from teachers and parents that PestWorldForKids.org is a valued resource in the classroom and at home, especially since we don’t allow any advertising or external linking. At NPMA and PestWorldForKids.org, we believe the only cookies kids should come in contact with are the ones you dip in a glass of milk,” said Cindy Mannes, vice president of public affairs for NPMA. “So, come and play with us while learning about the amazing animal and insect world. We hope to inspire children and provide them with a fun and safe environment where they can learn about the bugs, become a pest detective and more!”

Perfect for classrooms and homeschool programs, users can access a library of lesson plans and activities on PestWorldForKids.org that support education standards from the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) and National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE). Report writing assignments, science fair projects and quizzes are at the ready for educators to add to their curriculum this fall. “All of this educational content is categorized by grade level on the homepage to provide visitors with a more streamlined and easier navigation experience,” added Mannes.

The new preschool section contains worksheets teaching letter association, color by number, matching, and counting themes that teachers and parents can download. The website also features a revamped Critter Crafts section with downloadable instructions for 24 bug-themed arts and crafts. In addition to these new updates, the website retains many of its popular features like the Pest Guide, interactive games and Pest Quest video series.
