Wildlife Rabies Risk

FAIRFAX, Va. (December 20, 2013) – Homes are havens of warmth, especially in the wintery weather much of the country is experiencing this December. Homeowners should be wary of wildlife such as raccoons trying to stay warm in garages or looking for something to eat in trash bins.

Raccoons, foxes, and bats are known carriers of rabies and can pass the virus to humans through a bite. It is best to avoid wildlife if outside and to seal all doors, windows, and openings to the home to keep critters out.
