West Nile Virus Still a Risk
FAIRFAX, Va. (August 7, 2013) – Summer is coming to a close, but mosquitoes and West Nile virus is still a major concern to people throughout the U.S.
Some areas of the country are reporting a rise in the number of mosquitoes, yet very few cases of West Nile virus. Other areas, such as Los Angeles and Massachusetts, are closing public areas to hopefully reduce the risk of infection spreading to the general public.
To reduce your risk of contracting a mosquito-borne disease, be sure to empty any containers of standing water on your property and reduce outdoor activity between dusk and dawn.
