Deadly Spider Eggs Found in UK Woman’s Bunch of Bananas

FAIRFAX, Va. (September 15, 2014) – A UK mother found the eggs of one of the world's most venomous spiders hidden in her bunch of bananas. Abby Woodgate, 30, initially thought the white lump in her bananas was mold until she poked it with a toothpick and dozens of eggs were revealed.

Pest control experts on the scene determined that the eggs belonged to the Brazilian wandering spider, known to have some of the most toxic venom in the world, causing loss of muscle control, breathing problems and eventually, death. The spider often hides in bunches of bananas that are occasionally shipped to foreign countries for sale in supermarkets. All of the spider eggs were successfully removed from Woodgate's home.
