The National Pest Management Association Launches Online Pest Photography Contest
FAIRFAX, Va. (August 15, 2011) – PestWorld.org, the educational consumer website for the National Pest Management Association (NPMA), today announced a national contest inviting photographers to submit their favorite pest photography for a chance to win a $1,000 grand prize. The contest challenges both amateur and avid photographers to submit images of common household pests such as rodents, mosquitoes, ants, termites, cockroaches, stinging insects and ticks. However, photography of all insects and small wildlife are welcome.
The contest opens on August 15, 2011 and will officially close at 11:59 p.m. EST on October 15, 2011. Entries must be submitted to the PestWorld Photography Contest group on Flickr, which can be found at http://www.flickr.com/groups/pestworld/ or by searching for 'PestWorld Photography Contest' on Flickr.com/groups. There is no limit to the number of entries an individual can submit.
"We've had people proactively send us their amateur pest photos and know there are many talented photographers who have a passion for insect photography or already have stunning pest images in their portfolios," says Missy Henriksen, vice president of public affairs for the NPMA. "NPMA wants to give these photographers an outlet to share their work with other bug and wildlife enthusiasts, and award them with the chance to win a substantial cash prize."
Ten people will win "bragging rights" as a finalist in the PestWorld Photography Contest and will have their entries publicly posted to PestWorld.org. One entry will be recognized as the grand prize winner and will receive a $1,000 award.
