Stink Bugs Emerging from Overwintering Sites in Mid-Atlantic Region

FAIRFAX, Va. (April 7, 2015) – With the arrival of spring, stink bugs will begin to emerge from their overwintering sites in homes such as inside attics and underneath siding and shutters. These pesky bugs will likely show up on windows, doors to the outdoors and screens as they try to get outdoors to search for food this spring. Stink bugs have hefty appetites and pose a significant threat to agriculture in states where they are prevalent.

To get rid of stink bugs, it is recommended to use a vacuum cleaner to remove the bugs. The bag should be promptly discarded to prevent the stink bug’s odor from permeating the area.
