Still Being Bit?

FAIRFAX, Va. (November 15, 2013) – Thankfully the height of mosquito season is behind us, but don’t let your guard down just yet. Mosquitoes can survive some chilly temperatures and the population only significantly drops in an area after it is cold enough for frost.

Especially in warmer regions of the country, it is still possible this late in the year to contract mosquito-borne diseases such as West Nile virus and EEE. Also, even in the colder months, it is good practice to continue emptying standing areas of water that can contain mosquito eggs and larvae. Every effort helps when it comes to controlling the mosquito population.
