Steer Clear of Wildlife

FAIRFAX, Va. (November 12, 2013) – You may be noticing more wildlife outside your home such as raccoons, opossums, and foxes. These critters are looking for a warm place to spend the winter, and while they may seem fluffy from afar, they can carry potentially fatal diseases such as rabies.

Rabies has already been reported in many states including Florida, Texas, and New Jersey. Approaching any wild animal can put you at risk as the animal can be contagious before showing the characteristic signs of the disease, so it is best to make sure everyone in the family knows to leave these animals alone.
