Pests Causing Problems in Florida Schools

FAIRFAX, Va. (March 27, 2013) – Most people associate pest infestations with homes, but the truth is they can cause a problem in many different structures. This week, several Florida schools fell victim to pests, namely termites, rats and bed bugs.

According to WPTV-TV in Palm Beach, drywood termite colonies of a couple hundred thousand were exterminated at a local elementary school, while rats forced a Tampa Bay school district to close its kitchen. Bed bugs were also found in dorms at the University of South Florida.

Experts advise you to always be aware of your surroundings – whether at home, in school, traveling, shopping or even taking public transportation. If a pest infestation is suspected, contact a licensed pest control company to assist in proper identification and treatment of the problem.
