Leave Wildlife Alone
FAIRFAX, Va. (May 22, 2014) – Wildlife like squirrels and raccoons may seem cute or cuddly from afar, but it is advised to steer clear and not interact with these animals in parks or backyards.
Sightings of wildlife usually increase in the warmer weather when both they and people spend more time out of their homes. Small mammals are a health risk as they are known to carry rabies, and an animal can be contagious before symptoms of its illness are noticeable.
Also, nuisance wildlife can be very smart, and any interaction such as feeding them can lead to more individuals congregating in the area looking for food.
