Keep Pests From Turning Your Home Into A Haunted House This Halloween
FAIRFAX, Va. (October 31, 2012) – Happy Halloween! This fall, ghosts and goblins won’t be the only creatures causing nightmares. Bats, spiders and other spooky pests may be lurking in your own backyard, ready to turn your home into a haunted house and give you a scare.
Experts warn that as the temperature continues to drop, many pests will look for food and shelter indoors. However, once inside the home, they can cause more than just an unpleasant infestation. Rodents and other common fall pests can pose serious health threats to humans by contaminating food and spreading diseases such as Hantavirus and rabies.
Missy Henriksen of the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) told Boston.com that homeowners should seal cracks on the outside of the home with caulk, and use weather stripping around windows and doors.
