Is it Time to Call in the Pest Pro?

FAIRFAX, Va. (December 4, 2012) – When it comes to pests, many people often think that they can fix the problem with do-it-yourself (DIY) measures. However, when done incorrectly, DIY pest control can be ineffective, and more importantly, unsafe. An article posted on NJ.com is a great reminder of why it’s important to call in the pros if an infestation is suspected.

On Friday afternoon, a 78-year-old man was severely burned when a lighter he was using to torch ants on a log ignited a gasoline-filled container, police said. The gas container, which was near the man’s legs, caught fire and exploded.

Wood-boring insects such as carpenter ants and termites should be taken seriously. The National Pest Management Association (NPMA) says that over time these pests can damage important support beams in homes, resulting in expensive repairs. If a pest infestation is present, it should be left up to the professionals to handle before it can grow any larger.
