He’s Got High Hopes
FAIRFAX, Va. (July 13, 2013) – Some areas of the country are seeing a marked increase in rainfall this summer. That generally means a higher number of pests, and the rain can also drive these pests into homes.
Carpenter ants especially love the moisture. They can do serious damage to homes in any type of weather, but moist wood is more attractive to them than dry wood.
To help prevent carpenter ants in the wet weather, be sure to remove any rotten wood around the outside of the structure and do not store woodpiles up against the house. Removing standing areas of water near the home and sealing all cracks in siding, doors and windows can help stop the ants from making your home their meal.
