Fire Ants Back in the South
FAIRFAX, Va. (May 15, 2014) – Homeowners in the South are battling the infamous fire ant yet again this spring.
These pests are well known in the warmer regions of the country where residents fight to keep them out of their homes and yards. Fire ants get their name from their bite, which is actually two in one. The ant will bite with its jaw and then inject venom with its stinger.
Fire ant bites can cause itching and swelling of the skin, dizziness or even vomiting. Those with allergies or asthma may be at higher risk of severe reactions.
