Fido Finds Bed Bugs

FAIRFAX, Va. (August 12, 2013) – Dogs have been used by many organizations to detect chemicals, find people, and smell out what humans can’t. Now, canines are keeping us safe from our own furniture – at least the furniture that is infested with bed bugs.

Non-profits such as the Furniture Bank of Central Ohio are bringing in dogs that are specially trained to detect bed bugs and their eggs. The dogs paw at any piece of furniture where they find the scent of bed bugs. This system hopefully helps to keep infestations at a minimum, allowing charity organizations like the Furniture Bank to continue their work.
