Easy Mosquito Prevention

FAIRFAX, Va. (May 19, 2014) – All neighborhood residents can help with mosquito prevention throughout the season. Mosquitoes breed in standing water, so frequently emptying containers holding rainwater can have a significant impact on the insect population later on in the summer.

Late spring and summer is rainy season for some regions of the country, so it is important to eliminate areas where water accumulates on your property. Mosquitoes only need ¼ inch of water in which to lay eggs.

Preventing mosquitoes is important in reducing the spread of diseases such as West Nile virus and Eastern Equine encephalitis.
