Bed Bugs Go To College

FAIRFAX, Va. (August 22, 2013) – Bed bugs are often incorrectly thought of as a city pest, but they can find a mattress in central Wisconsin just as appealing as one in Manhattan, and they are now becoming a concern to students.

Wright State University in Dayton, OH is dealing with bed bugs found in dormitories just days before students are scheduled to move in. Having bed bugs in a dorm is not only undesirable for students but also for parents who don’t want their children bringing bed bugs home on college breaks.

Be sure to follow prevention tips when packing for school and before unpacking in a new room. Bed bugs can survive on a clean mattress, so the cleanliness of the room does not mean it is free of pests.
