Bed Bugs Biting in Hospitals
FAIRFAX, Va. (April 24, 2013) – Bed bugs are often found in residential settings and lodging facilities, but recently pest control companies have been reporting infestations everywhere including hospitals and nursing homes. In fact, the just-released third edition of the Bugs Without Borders survey from the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) and the University of Kentucky, found that the percentage of pest control companies treating bed bugs in hospitals and nursing homes has nearly doubled since 2010.
MarketWatch reported that hospitals are putting a growing emphasis on overall cleanliness and sterilization protocols to help eliminate bed bugs. Unfortunately, heavy foot traffic in and out of medical facilities makes it easier for bed bugs to hitchhike a ride inside.
