Attention Travelers: Bed Bugs on the Rise
FAIRFAX, Va. (April 27, 2013) – During summer travel, even the most seasoned vacationers are at a higher risk of encountering bed bugs. These blood-sucking pests are excellent hitchhikers and are easily transported. Moreover, bed bugs are found to be as much, if not more of a problem today than they were a few years ago, according to a new survey conducted by the National Pest Management Association and the University of Kentucky.
Most alarming is the fact that 99.6 percent of pest professionals have treated for bed bugs in the past year with 75 percent encountering this pest in hotels and motels.
With college students returning home in the coming weeks, parents readying children for summer camps and travelers starting to plan their summer vacations, it is important to brush up on bed bug prevention tips and remain vigilant as they go about their summer plans.
