A Summer Pest That’s Still Around

FAIRFAX, Va. (October 29, 2013) – Summer is the season for stinging and biting insects, and as the weather cools, most of these pests die off or find a place to overwinter. While mosquitoes and bees are not a worry in the winter, people still need to be on the lookout for ticks.

These pests are hearty and can survive cold temperatures and even frost. Layers of clothing help protect against bites, but ticks can still hitch a ride home and latch on later. Homeowners with outdoor pets should also stay diligent about applying flea and tick protection to their pets in the winter months.
