A Lot of Buzz as Summer Begins

FAIRFAX, Va. (June 3, 2013) – Bees are getting their 15 minutes of fame. Swarms have been reported all over the country in some pretty unusual places, such as under trampolines, outside office buildings, and even in a major league baseball dugout.

As the weather warms, bees expand their colonies and search for new places to build their nests – often on our property. Although a swarm can be frightening, bees are actually quite docile unless they feel threatened. However, due to the aggressive nature of certain bee species, sightings of a swarm near homes or businesses should be immediately reported so a professional can assess the situation and safely remove the bees.
