National Pest Management Month Recognizes the Professional Pest Control Industry’s Work to Protect Against the Diseases and Dangers of Pests
National Pest Management Month, an annual observance recognized by Chase’s Calendar of Events each April, highlights the professional pest control industry’s commitment to the protection of public health, property and food from the diseases and dangers posed by pests. This year, the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) is calling attention to just how important pest control professionals are to our daily lives.

The National Pest Management Association (NPMA) today released its bi-annual Bug Barometer®, a seasonal forecast of the pest pressure and activity Americans can expect to see in their respective regions of the country based on weather patterns and long-term predictions, as well as pest biological behaviors. According to the group’s team of entomologists, residual winter moisture coupled with wet forecasts ahead will cause pest populations to spike early in much of the continental U.S. this spring and summer.

With harsh winter weather leaving many homes and properties across the country susceptible to these wood-destroying pests, the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) is working to educate consumers and spread awareness about this destructive species during Termite Awareness Week, March 10-16.

The National Pest Management Association (NPMA) today released its bi-annual Vector Sectors™ list of the top 10 U.S. cities with the greatest risk for increased pest pressure from vector pests, including rodents and cockroaches, for the remainder of winter. As vectors of disease, these pests are able to transmit pathogens such as Salmonella and hantavirus to humans, and are also known to trigger allergy and asthma symptoms.
