Tick Exposure Can be Fast
According to a professor at Kansas State University, in some areas of the country the tick population is so high that a person could pick one up within one minute of being outdoors.
Tick perch on tall grasses and bushes, waiting for a potential host to walk by. When a tick latches onto a host, it instinctively craws toward the head of its host. It's believed that this is because the skin around the head and neck is thinner.
Tick-borne diseases include Lyme disease, Heartland virus, Babesiosis and Rocky Mountain spotted fever.
