Protect Your Family Pet From Fleas and Ticks

Sunday, April 14, 2013

Pets, like humans, have begun wandering outdoors to enjoy the warm weather that’s arrived across much of the county. Unfortunately, this means that they are also at risk of encountering hungry ticks and fleas, which can pose serious risks to their health.

Pet owners in the Los Angeles area should be especially cautious because Lyme disease-carrying ticks were found lurking in the Santa Monica Mountains, according to NBCLosAngeles.com.

To keep family pets pest-free during the summer months, the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) recommends checking pets frequently for ticks and fleas, bathing pets after walks or playtime with other animals, and avoiding walking dogs in tall grass.
