2012 has been shaping up to be the year of infectious
diseases related to pests, but there’s no denying that some
other weird and wacky bug stories have made headlines over the past
twelve months.
Earlier this year, a spider
was removed from a woman’s
ear canal after doctors found it living inside for five
days.
Then on Friday,
CBSNews.com reported that doctors discovered 57 maggots living
in the left ear of a 92-year-old woman. Her family is suing a local
nursing home since she was unable to care for herself due to
Alzheimer’s.
