Asian Tiger Mosquitoes

In the wake of recent events, the Northeast has been under close watch for an increase in the number of summer pests such as ticks, mosquitoes, and cicadas. Now a new species of mosquito is added to the list.

New Jersey has been seeing large numbers of Asian Tiger mosquitoes which are a bigger health threat to humans. They are known to spread West Nile Virus, and unlike most species of mosquito, the Asian Tiger mosquito is most active during daylight hours. This places people at a higher risk of interaction and possible disease transference.

Fortunately, prevention techniques for Asian Tiger mosquitoes are the same as for other species of mosquito.
