Ant Invasion During Winter Months

Ants are still causing problems
for homeowners despite the temperature drop this winter.
An invasive species of ant known as the Caribbean crazy
ant is making its way across the Southern U.S. and invading
homes in Texas, according to
KZTV-TV. Like many other pest species, crazy ants are forced to
find warmth inside because they cannot survive the winter outdoors.
Often, they enter homes and nests underneath floors or carpeting,
or in potted plants and wall voids.
Crazy ants do not pose a health threat, but if they gain entry
to a structure they can become a nuisance. As a result, experts at
the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) recommend
contacting a licensed pest professional if an infestation is
suspected.
