Officials Say Bed Bug-Infested Suspects Did Not Get Into Jail

Officials at the Boyle County Detention Center took precautions two people who had been arrested earlier Wednesday were found to have bed bugs on them.

The incident began at 10:30 a.m. when police arrested Lisa and Thomas McManus after being called to a home on Caldwell Street for a domestic dispute. While making the arrests, police discovered the residents and residence infested with bed bugs

As a precaution, officials set up decontamination post at the detention center. Police, fire, and some jail workers and the two suspects went through the decontamination. In all, 11 people went through decontamination.

Though the two suspects did not make it into the jail before they were discovered to have bed bugs, officials still took precautions. As of Wednesday afternoon, some equipment remained on the scene to monitor the situation.
