Fight Against Bed Bugs at Good Sam Continues

Friday, April 29, 2011

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) - The fight against the bed bugs at a local shelter will continue at least for another week.

The Good Samaritan Rescue Mission has hired a company out of Houston to try and get rid of the problem. The company is currently using giant heaters to heat each room up to 135 degrees in order to kill them.

And so far, the company says the process is working. Bed bugs have become resistant to about every chemical we have, they have not become resistant to high temperatures heat kills not just the bed buts but the eggs as well.

Good Sam has been fighting the problem since 2009. The total cost of the project is more than 23 thousand dollars. The mission says since our first story air, they've raised 86-hundred dollars. They still need about 9 thousand more to help pay the cost.
